I have written in these pages recently about the rejection letters received from "Step Dad" magazine. I have decided to take the last article I wrote, "Casino Justice", and expand and tweak it for general use into a short story.
The thrust of the story deals with card cheats and the various methods the casinos use to enforce their own brand of justice. The story focuses on one particular player, an out of work Hollywood stunt man who resorts to cheating in Vegas to make ends meet. I have removed the step father component and added a sidekick named Burlap Joe for our protagonist.
There is also a surprise ending.
So far, no bites from any of the publishers I submitted this to.
